Thanks, Steve... I think I will win this battle, based on cost of cigs, as motivation, mainly.
I can go 5+ years between joints, without a thought of it. I'm winning the cig battle, and it it gets easier daily after 4 weeks, but I still crave one on occassion, to be honest about it. :smoking:
Your beating the shit out of me Doug.. Ive tried everyday this week and havent made it till noon once. I have a lump in my throat so raw i can barely swallow, probably be talking through a hole in my chest soon and still to stupid and weak to quit them...

I just quit smoking at the beginning of November. I smoked for 5 years, from 21-26, smoking 2-3 packs a week. I was starting to get my yearly winter cough and shortly after that I got sick. I was too sick to smoke for about 4 days. After that I said fuck it, I'm just gunna parlay this into quitting altogether.
It is all about breaking habits with quitting. Another thing that helped out is they banned smoking in bars in Virginia right around that time. Once I broke the habit of a smoking after eating, it was clear sailing.
Looking back I don't think I'll ever smoke again. I feel so much better physically since quitting. No more cough.

Know your weaknesses and stay away from those situations. I used to smoke everytime I drank alcohol. So I would try not to drink as often and it worked but I would give in once I drank enough brews.
What really worked for me was when I had my tonsils removed a few years ago. Cigarettes never tasted the same. Go figure. That's what worked for me.

Im on day 6 of quitting myself Cold turkey.....Smoked for 10 years...Been coughing like a madman (driving my coworkers nuts), feel like shit and have slept like 60 hours since monday but its working....Congrats Doug can't wait till I hit the one month mark..
