I had to post this from Baseball Prospectus. If the pitching shows up, the A's could surprise. I say this every year.

90-72 is my prediction. Should be enough in that division.

WOW Jake. I like your prediction.

I think if the young pitching comes through and Sheets has a good year, they could be tough.

From what I hear, Kouzmanoff is a horse.

I gotta disagree as well, A's should stink this year. M's take this division this year. I jumped on them pre the Cliff Lee pick up to win the world series at +6000, and added more at +3000. Jack Z's pick ups have been sick. He's clearly willing to make a blockbuster and will be in on any big bats that become available thru the year if they're in position to make a run that is. Best 1-2 punch in baseball already, rumored to be landing Bedard or Washburn as a 3rd starter and possibly both with Rowland Smith and Snell as very good 4th and 5th sp. Already maybe the best defensive team in baseball with that pitching. If low risk pick ups like Byrnes can come thru this team won't just win the division they'll run away with it.

Not like the A's haven't done this before. I wouldn't be shocked if they win the division. Beane always got something up his sleeve.

Mariners and A's are the best teams. A's have more potential. Oakland's pitching staff will be filthy.

i think you guys are overrating this team and pitching staff...they dont have a lineup either...they do have some decent arms like sheets dursh anderson braden and outman and bailey in the pen but if i was to take any team in this div to get decent odds on id go with seattle...they got 2 of the best pitchers in the game and if bedard could stay healthy they will be a problem with a killer 1-2-3 knockout punch...they also may be looking at trying to get washburn back if they did that thats a pretty solid rotation...i also like that guy gutierrez....they acquired bradley who can have an impact on offense...figgins..that kid carp and ackley coming up...lopez...and not to mention ichiro....i like this squad and think they might take this division from the angels...just my opinion....i respect your opinions and dont mean to come off as a dick but i just dont see enough talent in the As to warrant believing they can contend for the division...

I agree 100% Makaveli. Jake said A's have more potential and I keep scratching my head to see it. The M's are sitting on 2 cy young candidates and Bedard if he gets healthy and stays it is an ace. Oaklands best pitcher is in the same boat as Bedard both need to get and stay healthy and if they do they can be filthy but the M's aren't relying on Bedard the way the A's need Sheets to come thru. And then I don't see much on offense for the A's that makes me think they have the horses to compete. Maybe I'm just well versed on the young guys the A's will be rolling with or something but they look like league bottom feeders not division contenders to me.

How can you say that the A's pitching will be sick when you are comparing it to the back to back knockout punch that will be Cy Lee and King Felix???

The M's are going to be strong texas and LAA will mix it up. This will be a hell of a division this year. The AL is going to be fun to watch the yanks and sox have got them selves stocked. The rays are right there. The central will blow as usual. The west will actually be entertaining this year.

In the NL well I guess we can watch the cubs and cardinals...

It's changed a bit in the past week. Click the link and you will note the Rangers are 1, Halos 2, White Elephants 3, and the Lost Seafarers dead last.
