These people pop out of nowhere in grocery store parking lots it seems. Always wanting money for the bus (most common pitch) or for something to eat. Liars. Or how about those at intersections holding up some sign with some sob story. I ought to start bringing my own sign and waving it like this one...

Let's get down to brass tacks. How much for the ap

I don't know, I just kind of get tired of it. I know they're making it up most of the time. I could start an on going thread about all the interactions I have with these people. I'll take pictures of their signs and post them. Hell, I'll give them a dollar to pose with their sign.

My friend used to own a bingo hall and those places bringing out all kind of low-lifes.

It kind of hardened me to beggers.

Happened a few days ago with me lady asking for gas money at supermarket parking lot to get home to a neighboring town. I said no as I think maybe 1 in 10 are legit.I'd have no problem giving a few bucks to someone in real need but who knows nowadays.

It would be surprising if anyone hasn't been hit up

Everyone likes money and if they are willing to endure the begging lifestyle there is no way to deny it isn't a legitimate cause. Almost all have mental health issues, low cognition, substance abuse, or some combination. I still only give rarely, because an extra dollar in my pocket makes me more happy than seeing a homeless alcoholic get an extra beer

Once the summer weather arrives I might try giving them a cold bottle of water and see if they appreciate that, only 12.5 cents

Few years ago had this kid come up to me as I was filling up my car at a Chevron gas station, he had a gas can with him and asked if I would give him some gas. His pickup was across the street. He seemed legit and in need. He caught me in a charitable mood so I filled his can up and he asked for my address so he could repay me, he was really thankful. I said for him to pay it forward. I watched him go back across the street and put the gas in his pickup and drive off.

We went to Vegas and played homeless trivia. Ask them a question. If they answered correctly we'd give em' some cash.

Depends on who's asking. I'll occasionally give the drunks a quarter. They usually come up with some funny lines. I saw this one guy shuffle up to my car with a limp at an exit from the freeway. I didn't give him any money but I did go straight to a Burger King and bought a meal to bring back for him. When I was driving back I saw him leaving. He had a big back pack that looked like it weight about 30 pounds and he was walking like he was in some kind of race. I was had but at least I didn't give him any money. There's an older guy near another exit I use and I always give him what change I have with me. It's quite obvious he's mentally ill.

Never give them a cent. The more you give, the more they want. San Francisco is a fine example along with Seattle.
The ones at the intersections are the worse. I go ballistic and lay on the horn if I miss the light because some douche decided to stop to hand the guy with a sign a buck.

I have given money before.

This black homeless guy got me coming out of the gas station and made up some shit story about how he needed money to get back on the bus.

I gave him a dollar and he looked at me angry. I think he was expecting me to dole out a $10 bill.

I used to work for the Federal Reserve when I was younger. And the bums used to hang out in front of the building as I walked in. Which was a little ironic in itself. I guess they figured if you worked at a place like that you made good money, which couldn't have been further from the truth. I still used to give them some coins every now and then. But nothing big because it would have become expected. And I saw these same guys everyday as I walked in. So I practically knew each by name.
