Me personally, I think that's great. I hope it happens. Pitt would add some nice new blood. I may be in the minority here(especially for someone who lives close to Columbus, Ohio), but I think the Big Eleven, in football and basketball, is boring as hell.

I would like to see Pitt in the Big 10 myself and I'm guessing that the 2 divisions would look like this:

Big 10 East Division

Ohio St
Penn St
Pitt
Michigan
Michigan St
Indiana

Big 10 West Division

Iowa
Wisconsin
Minn
Illinois
Northwestern
Purdue

Don't think there is any chance we'll see Ohio St, Michigan and Penn St in the same division.

I'm telling you that they will not break up Michigan and Ohio State every yr that's a given but I think they are going to do it geographically but hell I can be very wrong on this also.

LOL....there is NO way the East would look like that in football....even though the geography makes sense...they will just call it East and West or North and South...it doesnt matter...but there will be more balance....the big question would be if Michigan and Ohio State would be in the same division...its arguably one of the best rivalries in all of sports despite Ohio States recent dominance...the luster will be taken away now....because what made the rivalry so big was in the hey day of the Bo-Woody era...it was the Big 2 Little 8...and the winner always went to the Rose Bowl...it was always the last game of the year...there are pros and cons to same division or opposite division...the pros are in the same division they will play each other every year...however, it will NEVER be for The Big Ten Championship...or you could split them...but then they may not play each other...but when they DO play each other, it would be for the conference title...I guess if you arent a fan of either school you wouldnt care...me personally, I would rather have them split up...I think the game has lost its luster....even before the recent OSU dominance, Michigan won like 10 out of 11 or whatever it was in the Cooper era...its just a new era....I dont need to see the game every year....but if they ended up playing for the Big Ten Title once every so often...it would bring back the rivalry I think...Just my thoughts...but that is some of the decisions the Big Ten has to make...

Gasm~

P.S. Its too bad Notre Dame is so damn snobby....they make the most sense to join the Big Ten.....I just don't understand them....I hope NBC leaves them out in the cold with no contract and Big Ten teams stop playing them...let them go play the academys every week! Fuk ND!

I know that these divisions look out of wack but was throwing that out there for discussion. You make a good point about splitting up Michigan and Ohio St and I can buy that debate but think the Big 10 wants that match up every yr and if you split them up there is no guarantee that they will play.Should be very ineresting what the BIG 10 does with this and with schedules and divisions.

Notre Dame will not join any conference because they want all the money for themselves the greedy bastards that they are but they will get Big 10 teams like Purdue and Mich St to play them and maybe Indiana in the years to come.I think Michigan might take them off but dont know contract status.

As a longtime Big Ten fan, I must say it would be awesome to have Pitt in the conference.

Excellent addition for Big Ten (not as prestigious as Penn St was) one that will definitely add to the basketball conference strength and won't hurt them in football but will have to be considered middle of the football pack at first anyway.

Hope it happens.

I'm still a little skeptical myself, but it's no secret the Big Ten has been courting a few teams recently. I would prefer Pitt over Missouri personally.

is this rumor for just Pitt's football team, or all Pitt sports?

and the Big Ten needs to look into a new name if they grab another school, they already have more than 10. Can't go with Big 12 , already taken.

I've lost all hope in mankind if Jim Delany shuts the door on ND for a team already residing in a current Big Ten state (#1 reason for expansion: to add NYC to the BTN's cable footprint with the CCG a distant second) who doesn't even have their own football stadium.

UConn will stay in the Big East as long as Jim Calhoun is associated with the school.

Pitt does make sense for alot of reasons. Dixon will win a bunch of B10 titles.
