stay away from the gas lamp district at night, it is fun and there is some good restaurants but over priced and too many college kids. during the day is the best time to go there, you are staying in a really nice spot it is not far from the water at all. you are about 40min away from any casino, some good local indian casino are barona, pala, harrahs, the palomar is an ok one but it is close to your hotel.

I like Barona a little bit better than Viejas. I'm sure they all have buses to pick you up at a certain location. Harrah's is pretty nice and they have buses picking up from everywhere in SD.

Although Donovan's is great, it might be a little pricey for you. I'd try Tom Hamm's Lighthouse on Shelter Island, or if you like seafood, Anthony's Seafood Groto right on the bay.

Funny, you're coming down here for the SB, and I'm leaving here for Vegas for the SB.
