I have win xp home and IE8

In the past week I've been experiencing this problem: I open a web page(any) and get an error: Microsoft Visual C++ debug library, at the top of the error box, then inside the box says debug error: IE explorer abnormal program termination.. that causes a runtime error.

Anyone have this issue? get it resolved? I have scoured the net for answers. 1 of the resolutions was to delete Google toolbar because it causes conflicts in IE8. I tried that and that did not work.

Thanks for any help.

i know this probably isn't the answer you want but, regardless if you solve your problem, i'd switch to one of the other browsers. be it firefox, opera, or chrome.

Are you running any anti-virus /anti-malware program on your computer?
Are they up to date?

Did you install updates available from Windows Update?

HOW TO RESET IE 8

To use the Reset Internet Explorer Settings feature from Control Panel, follow these steps:

Exit all programs, including Internet Explorer (if it is running).

  • If you use Windows XP, click Start, and then click Run. Type the following command in the Open box, and then press ENTER:
    inetcpl.cpl
If you use Windows Vista, click
Start. Type the following command in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER:
    inetcpl.cpl
    The
    Internet Options dialog box appears.

  • Click the Advanced tab.
  • Under Reset Internet Explorer settings, click Reset. Then click Reset again.

  • When Internet Explorer finishes resetting the settings, click Close in the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box.
  • Start Internet Explorer again.

Thanks guys... I found this fix posted by MrBundy 2 hours ago on another site. Thanks Al, seems like it worked. I may change to Firefox anyway, sooooooooooo sick of the IE BS. Updates every fucking day (have auto updates enabled) IE is a complete POS. IE 8 comes out and their BHO's fuck everything up instead of helping. Seems like the more they try and do the more disfunctional the browser becomes. ^<<^
