what a bunch of shit:ohno:

MIAMI (CBS4) --Die-hard football fans attending the Super Bowl game at Dolphin Stadium are getting a rude awakening after finding out that no tailgating of any type will be allowed within a one mile radius on game day.

"There is no tailgating allowed in the Dolphin Stadium parking lots," Sue Jaquez, a member of the Super Bowl XLI Host Committee, confirmed on Tuesday. "And there is no tailgating anywhere within a one-mile radius of the stadium." "And there are no RVs allowed."

Tailgating is permitted during regular- and post-season games for Dolphins fans, a team official on Tuesday said it would indeed be allowed at the Super Bowl. According to Jaquez, however, the official has been seriously misinformed.

The Dolphins do not organize and oversee the Super Bowl, Jaquez pointed out. Instead, those duties are left up to NFL officials. And because of security reasons, no pre-game partying on (or very near) the premises will take place. Fans spotted tailgating could face charges, Jaquez said.

"This is part of the NFL, not the Dolphins," Jaquez said. "If the Dolphins are saying there's tailgating -- or think it's going to be allowed -- then they need to contact the NFL."

Detective Nelda Fonticella of the Miami-Dade Police department confirmed the Super Bowl rules.

The rules put in force by the NFL prohibit grilling or consuming alcohol within on Dolphins Stadium grounds.

People "will be warned and asked to pick up their things and leave," Fonticella said. "We're trying to make this a pleasant experience for everyone, and there will be plenty to do in the week leading up to the game."

There is no law prohibiting tailgating outside of the stadium property.

What's next? I suppose you will try to tell me that the mighty NFL will send cease and desist letters to people making 'Who Dat' tee shirts, claiming that they own the rights. The Super Bowl (cr), and all that leads up to it, is beginning to lose it's luster.

the NFL is slowly but steadily enforcing rules like this in recent years, and will continue to do so. i had a friend attend the jets-bengals game in week 17 and they did not sell alcohol throughout the entire game...if i'm not mistaken i remember an interview with the head of security at dolphin stadium (real sports w/ bryant gumble)...they actually have a texting system where if u are sitting next to a drunken fan all you have to do is text and report it to security anonymously and they check them on the security cameras, if he's bad enough they come over and throw him out...

When the Bears were down there in 2007 they said the same thing. They were going to search cars when they came in etc.
We parked in a main lot on the North side of the stadium and there was tailgating and they didn't search our car.

I think this has been the rule for a long time that you can't tailgate at the Super Bowl. I was at the last two SB's and it was the same rule but people did it anyway, not grilling or anything but people stood around there cars drinking.

Thanks alot Bin Laden... First smoking on airplanes now this....

Lets get real here... This ban is all about money... They want fans to spend money on their food and beer at the stadium ( not bring there own). Thats why the money whores from the NFL is also trying to claim trademark rights on a slogan ( Who Dat)... Next think you know they will try to claim a trademark on the word football. Anyone who wants to say the word football will have to pay a fee to the NFL..

This has been the rule for at least the past 2 Super Bowls.

Nobody enforced it at all where we parked last year in Tampa. People were tailgaiting everywhere in the pre-paid parking places. Grilling at 10am and drinking to their hearts content.

I've been to 4 Super Bowls and have tailgated at all 4. I think they just have the law on the books so if anyone becomes a jackass they have every legal right to drop the hammer on em.

Pull out Mohammed trying to come onto the property and then you are ok to allow tailgating. What a bunch of bs. Penalize everyone when you know exactly where the potential threat is coming from.

i've been to 3 super bowls, and never really viewed the experience as one that would lend to tailgaiting as you would at a regular season game.
