Photo Courtesy of FoxChef Gordon Ramsay, right, travels to Philadelphia to help the family-owned Hot Potato Cafe on the season premiere of "Kitchen Nightmares" at 9 o'clock tonight on Fox.I have eaten in many restaurants -- some good, some not so good -- and one thing that is always present in the back of my mind is "I wonder what the kitchen looks like?"
Maybe I am thinking this because my husband owns his own restaurant and I have been in that kitchen numerous times, or maybe it's because I watch Gordon Ramsay's "Kitchen Nightmares."
Back for its second season (in the United States) tonight on Fox, Ramsay goes into restaurants that are suffering and tries to help turn them into successful venues.
This show is not for the faint-of-heart. Some of the things Ramsay has discovered in the kitchens of these restaurants have been downright awful. From bugs to slime-ridden refrigerators, Ramsay has seen it all.

Back for its second season (in the United States) tonight on Fox, Ramsay goes into restaurants that are suffering and tries to help turn them into successful venues.
According to the official Web site for the show, Ramsay: "reveals the behind-the-scenes realities of running a restaurant and wastes no time getting down to business -- implementing signature menu items, updating dated decor and making the restaurant run as smooth as possible. Ramsay accepts nothing less than the best when it comes to the food, staff and customer service. While still prone to the explosive outbursts and spectacular confrontations familiar to his fans, Ramsay reveals a sensitive and nurturing side as he coaches, cheers and challenges the restaurant staff, all the way from appetizers through dessert."
For anyone who watches "Hell's Kitchen," you are well aware of Ramsay's outbursts and lack of patience with the cooks in his kitchen. On "Kitchen Nightmares" Ramsay truly tries to help the owners and cooks of the showcased establishment, giving constructive criticism and feedback along the way. This is not always appreciated and drama ensues.
