As good as Manfred Mann was covering Bob Dylans "Quinn the Eskimo" and Springsteen's "Blinded by the Light"...........

The best all time 'cover' is the Lemonheads covering Simon and Garfunkel's "Mrs. Robinson"

Wow. There are 100's of great cover tunes, but I really like Jeff Buckley's version of Hallelujah.

Phish doing Ween's "Roses are Free" is really good.
Jimi Hendrix doing Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower" is epic.

I've collected hundreds of cover songs over the years. I'm probably leaving a few favorites out, but off the top of my head, here is my top 20.

1.Gin and Juice-The Gourds (Snoop Dog)..a country version of Snoop's rap song. A hoot!
2.Diamonds are a girl's best friend-T-Bone Burnett (Marylin Monroe) He did this back in the 80's before he became a Grammy winning producer.
3.Snowblind Friend-Steppenwolf (Hoyt Axton) Yep, this isn't a mistake. The Pusher was also a Hoyt Axton song. Goddam!
4.Oops! I did it again-Richard Thompson (Brittany Spears) Much better than you think.
5.Heartbreaker-Dread Zeppelin (Led Zeppelin) Great!
6.Rusty Cage-Johnny Cash (Soundgarden) Cash sings metal. You need to hear this one...Killer!
7.War Pigs-Hayseed Dixie (Black Sabbath) An alternative country version of Pigs!
8.Hallelujah-Jeff Buckley
9.Time won't let me-The Smithereens (The Outsiders)
10.Cheap Thrills-The Persuasions (Frank Zappa)
11.Suspicious Minds-Fine Young Cannibals (Elvis Presley)
12.Rubber Biscuit-The Blues Brothers (The Chips)
13.The Beat Generation-Beat Farmers (Rod McKuen) This band also does a great version of Neil Young's Powderfinger.
14.Femme Fatale-Greg Kihn (Velvet Undeground)
15.Jailbait-George Thorogood (Andre Williams)
16.Red Red Wine-UB40 (Neil Diamond)
17.Sunday Sunny Mill Valley Groove Day-The Bottle Rockets (Sir Douglas Quintet) Most of you young ones won't remember this one. Great song!
18.Baby It's You-Smith (The Shirells) An old cover of an even older group.
19.My mind is ramblin'-The Black Keys (Junior Kimbrough) The best thing this band has ever done.
20.It's my life-No Doubt (Talk Talk) I'm not really crazy about No Doubt. But this is really a good song from the 80's. So I commend them for their good taste.

This is a real good one. I love Cake's "I will survive"
Cake has a new CD out.
I can't believe Cake is still making records, I always liked that band, they go their own way, I like that.
