Super bowl props - zeke mowatt & busting bookies

__With all the talk of free money the books are just giving away on the prop bets for the super bowl, the first instance I had with props come to mind. It was the '86 super bowl, the first time i had even heard of what has now become widely known as prop bets. They listed about 10 selections for "who will score the first touchdown". All the usual suspects were listed, i was looking for a longer shot and immediately thought of zeke mowatt, since he was one of simms favorite targets at the goal line. Zeke wasnt even listed, so i took the field at 15/1, i wasnt sharp enough to realize what a good bet the field was with only about 9 players not included.
__Game starts well with "Simms threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to tight end Zeke Mowatt, giving the Giants a 7-3 lead." I am a winner for the game and the first quarter isnt even over. Giants end up covering after trailing at the half.
__ Call the book to settle up, and they tell me they are out of business, but will pay everyone. Seems like everybody had the field @ 15/1 as well as the giants [this was ny after all]. Next year they had every player who had scored a td listed and the field was about 8/1. Gravy train ended quick.

I bet it for the max ( $100 ), after checking out who will sing it Jennifer Hudson has sang it several times but it had never landed under 102 seconds

Zeke Mowatt is from the little town I grew up in & went to school at.

He still holds the most points scored for our high school team in a basketball game at like 70pts.

Remember after he left the Giants & went to New England there was the incident in the Patriots locker room with the female reporter Lisa Olson where Mowatt walked up to her naked and asked her with his unit hanging..."Isn't this what you're really in here for?"

The war in Iraq was going on about that time & there was a joke.....

Carrie Underwood will sing the anthem, not Hudson (Hudson sang last year). Carrie already finished under 1:42 at MLB allstar game, at the Rockies/Red Sox world series and when she performed the anthem during a nfl playoff game a few years back.
1:40 is a pretty sharp line imo, 1:38.5 @SIA was a tad low, would expect her to finish 1:40 +-2sec.

Jennifer Hudson will sing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl in what will be her first performance since her family murder tragedy last October.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy confirmed to the Associated Press on Wednesday that the Dreamgirls Oscar winner, 27, will deliver "The Star-Spangled Banner" at the Tampa, Fla., event on Feb. 1.

Her Super Bowl honor will come just days before Hudson is also scheduled to sing the songs of Neil Diamond at a Feb. 6 MusiCares Person of the Year gala in Los Angeles.<!-- jump -->

Hudson has been in seclusion since her mother, brother and nephew were killed in Chicago.

E! News on Tuesday first reported Hudson's Super Bowl appearance.
