Couple years ago my buddy got one here in Las Vegas. He actually caused an accident. He refused the breathalyzer and was taken to jail. Bailed out next day and got a lawyer.
Conclussion, paid $1500.00 for the lawyer, $500.00 ticket, $200.00 for a class and his license was suspended for 6 mo. Insurance went up, too.
Bottom line, fight it all the way. The DA will compromise.

well here in nyc....if u are the owner of the vehicle u are drunk driving in they take yer car away..now that is a total clusterfuck..i should add...that i didn't recieve the d.d....i was in the passenger seat while my cuz was busted...last summer..the cop had me drive the vehicle home...i was blasted and he let me drive off in it..and all i could think was...what if i get pulled over?...is there anyway the officer pulling me over would even believe my story????...never happened...but it's all i could think about..guess that's what got me home in one piece...
just happened last night so i don't know anything about it really. i know i can get it expunged though. i didn't wreck or injure anybody...i got pulled over because i didn't have my fucking lights on of all things. guess karma is a bitch...how long can i expect probation? how long can't i go into bars\etc? something so stupid that i'll never do again, this i do know.
if i remember right, my lawyer got a deal where if i stayed out of trouble for 6 months (or a year? it's been awhile) it would go off my record.....which was bullshit, because when i signed up for the army 3 years later the dui was still on my record, and my recruiter had to get waivers for me to join.....i had to do a phone interview with some LTC who was telling me how much trouble i'd get into if i drank and drive on post.....

yeah nassau county took one of my bros.- in laws jeeps a few years back...fucked up part about it is..they told him where it would be auctioned off...he said fuck it... didn't have the $ after all his fees...two years later he spots it in a parking lot in albany....i nearly pissed myself....
I wouldn't consider it to be probation....
Most likely something like this....
Suspended license for awhile, pending completion of some drunk driviving classes.
complete that, pay a fee, get re-instated.
possible minor jail or community service time, nothing huge
insurance will triple or so
or you could try to fight it... 10k + for lawyer.

Hopefully a DL isn't critical to your job....like you are a mailman,truck driver or something.

It's generally more of a suspension to refuse the test, like 6 months....but I'm not a lawyer or in PA.
Taking the test is your best shot of beating the charge if you are borderline DUI ,IMO.
It might hurt if you test out at 4X the limit ( .08), and ring up a .32 or such result, then who knows what the judge will want you to do ?
Do you have the test results, or just know it is way over .08 ?
A lawyer won't do much for you ( IMO), unless you get the right big $$$ lawyer that knows the judge and plays golf with him every Sunday.
This isn't a huge deal, another DUI is huge.

You could "lose" this shit 20+ years ago by getting a bunch of DL's in rapid succession in Bullshit states like Utah and New Mexico. I still have a Colorado DL that says it never expires, it's 20 years old.
I have held DL's in Ut and NM without ever having lived there, cleared up my 3 california DUI's in the 80's, but shit was different 20+ years ago.
It was laughable in NM, they took your old DL, threw it in a shoebox, gave you a NM DL, but that was like 1989, run that to utah, then back to Co, ( where you're living)....3 California DUI's flushed away forever. :grandmais:toast:
