I don't play games, or even watch sports on my desktop.. it died tonight..

I need to buy a new one. I mainly use it for storing information, and work... im on it quite a bit, and tend to have a lot of applications and things open at once...

WHAT SHOULD I LOOK FOR IN A DESKTOP....

Not looking to spend alot thats why I am trying to figure out what is important...

Maybe you just need a new hard drive.

You might just need a new hard drive if that is the problem.

What type of processor do you have?

If you do buy.

Minimum 4 MB of RAM.

Windows 7 64 bit.

I would go for a low end Pentium 2 processor. Nothing less.

Other than that, you don't need much else.

To add to InSpades' post, you should also buy a USB external hard drive to back up all your information. They are dirt cheap. I picked up a 500Gb at Target for $70. A small price to pay to keep your data safe.

if you want something "solid" you might look at business class desktops from Dell or Lenovo. They're not as "cool" as consumer-grade models, but they usually are more sturdy (and have better warranties backing them up).

I would agree with the others.....If you are going to buy New....I bought a Dell Studio 4MB Desktop for the Wife.
It comes with 3mb, but I Upgraded some things.

I cant help being the usual smart ass so I will point out that if you are buying computers with 3 or 4 MEGS.......you are buying stuff that is roughly 1 decade old ROFLMAO

Computers these days come with 2-8 gigs of memory (RAM) and 300 (or much more) gigs in harddrive space
