Anyone notice Manning get blatantly blocked in the back on the INT return?

Not making excuses. I had no money on either side. But on watching the replays, he got blocked completely in the back. Should have been called even though Peyton would have been unlikely to get the tackle anyway. Food for thought.

well maybe. just maybe peyton turned his back at the last second hoping for the block in the back. a genius play, cause he sure wasn't going to make the tackle.

no biggie if he doesn't shake hands.

years ago we lost to our cross town college rivals on a similar forth qtr, game ending play. guy going in for a td, 15 yds ahead of everyone, and a player got hit for clipping. even worse than this one. still hurts 30 yrs later.

Nah, he was pushed on his right shoulder by the guy. No big deal and no penalty.

anyone notice manning leaving the field without shaking hands?

Peyton basically said that he wasn't being a poor sport or anything. He said he remembered back when he won it and how the team was celebrating and the stage was getting setup and it was all his time. He didn't want to take any spotlight away from the Saints.

Clearly a block in the back & another perfect example why they should allow coaches to throw the red flag on questionable penalty-calls/no-calls to be reviewed as well....

probably a hard call to make. QBs and kickers are so awkward when it comes to making tackles, a lot of times they turn themselves around a half dozen times and fall without getting touched

i don't know why some are trying to make an issue out of peyton not shaking hands. at that point, you've got a team celebrating all over the field, it's probably a pain in the ass trying to find whoever it is you're trying to congratulate. they said peyton called brees personally and congratulated him, and colts players visitied the saints' locker room, so i don't know what the big deal is.

some people like starting a fire even when there's not a spark to be found.

Yeah I think the one athlete we should never judge from not shaking hands is Peyton Manning because he is simply so competitive & wants to win so bad, that he is likely just pissed off at himself more than anything and probably has absolutely nothing to do with any hard feelings towards his opponents....

The defender was between Peyton and the runner. If you call blocking in the back in that case a player who had his back to the play could back up to interfere with the runner because the defender wouldn't want to get called for blocking in the back. The defender has a right to clear him out if his back is to the play to prevent that player from getting to the runner.

Besides, Peyton had no chance to stop the runner.

Manning's a wuss. He plays scared. Rather than take on the blocker he turns his back and runs to the sideline. Tries to appear like he's making an effort to tackle when really he isn't. Seen this happen multiple times on his INTs.

He intentionally runs an offense where he is the least sacked QB in the league, getting rid of the ball in 2 seconds every time. He kills blitzes by calling an audible whenever someone comes to the line. Whenever he knows he's about to get sacked, he goes down to the ground on his own to avoid contact.

I'm not really seeing a problem with that. He's the most important person on that team. I watched David Carr set the NFL record for sacks and I'm pretty sure he didn't want it.

Uh no. Why place him on another level. I love the he doesn't want to lose stupid shit. That shit is dumb. Any athlete on that level never wants to lose. That just makes no sense to me.

I am not even blaming him for leaving the field. But to use this excuse is just silly. He is no better than the rest of the team.
This is why people start to hate the stars. The media puts them on such a level it is impossible for them to do anything.

so it's okay for saint manning, but if someone else (like a Patriot), they'd be screaming about it on espn for weeks!

Personally I have no problem with Peyton not shaking hands. Everything was going crazy on the field. He made his phone calls to congratulate guys afterward. Big whoop. I don't care who does it. IMO.
