Scott Boras has been waiting for something resembling a mini-bidding war and he may finally have it with the Tigers and Braves in the mix. As of now, we know that the Braves have offered Damon a one-year deal with some deferred funds, but he could be headed for Detroit if they add a second year or a greater guarantee for 2009. Things are picking up quickly here, so we may finally see a resolution in the coming days.

The Braves made an initial one-year offer to Damon and even had Chipper Jones contact the outfielder, according to O'Brien. Talks have the potential to move rather quickly, seeing as there's some level of mutual interest between the two parties and pitchers and catchers report to spring training in about a week. Damon, 36, batted .282/.365/.489 with 24 homers and 107 runs scored last year. His offense would certainly be welcome in Atlanta.

Local radio says Damon has Atlanta on the top of his list. Apparently, he sent text messages from Hawaii where he is vacationing to some people in the organization.
