Leslie Nielsen was awesome in that role.....used to love to watch the short lived tv series Police Squad....that is where the Naked Gun films eventually evolved from......very funny stuff

probably one of my 10 favorite tv shows of all time...i just love this kind of campy humor....I loved the airplane movies, and then naked gun movies as well...the show only ran one season, but it was a cult hit, enough so that it spawned 3 movies...not too bad for a show that got cancelled.......every episode would star someone who wasnt even in it,a nd they would screw up the title and everything else....it was a spook take on shows like columbo, kojak, police story, dragnet, etc..
