I made more on workman's comp this month that by working. Does that count?

If I want I raise, my boss tells me to go out and sell more.

Don't people get raises every year? I get 2%-5% extra every year. You can call it "cost of living adjustment" or "pay raise" but I doubt too many people work for too long without some increase in base salary.

Or am I just naive?

A buddy said his employer asked him to understand that they couldn't give him a raise due to the economy.

That's why I'm glad I'm The Boss and that I was taught by smarter people to Make My Own Economy

Every July 1st, between 3-5%.

As I got closer to 20 years, my raise was getting closer to the 3% mark.

Work for a hospital, so business is usually always pretty good.

We don't give them anymore. Anyone remember when there was such of a thing called a cost of living raise? Man, those were the days.
