hmmmm....Certainly pretty weak

But seriously....I like using Marriott's properties and they instituted the No Smoking (Toking for me) rule about five years ago.

Thus, the true key is to reserve your room at a place with an outdoor porch (first floor) or balcony. Just contact the property(s) you're considering and make that a dealbreaker.

Personally I don't smoke so the issue doesn't effect me but Mass is the worst.

The Massachusetts Smoke-free Workplace Law (MGL chapter 270, section 22, “An Act to Improve the Public Health in the Commonwealth”), effective 07/05/2004, prohibits smoking in workplaces, including private offices, taxis, restaurants and bars in order to protect employees and the public from secondhand smoke. This law amends the 1988 Massachusetts Clean Indoor Air Law.
Secondhand smoke, also known as environmental tobacco smoke (ETS), is the combination of smoke exhaled by a smoker and smoke from a burning cigarette, cigar or pipe. This combination is deangerous for both the smoker and the nonsmoker. Secondhand smoke contains a mixture of more than 4,000 chemicals, more than 50 of which are cancer-causing agents (carcinogens).

Cities and towns may have additional local secondhand smoke regulations that are stricter than the state law. For information about local tobacco control regulations, contact your local health department/board of health.

Many small towns have even stricter laws prohibiting smoking, such as no smoking in apartment complexes.

I Think most places, cities, states, etc....have a Smoke Free policy, of somekind.

But when I check into a Hotel, they Ask....Smoking or Non-Smoking room.

The Only place ( before this ) that has a Non-Smoking Policy in Hotels is Puerto Rico.

I remember when the bars went no-smoking... Sucked for awhile, as people didn't realize that these places smelling of smoke is a lot better than stank man-ass... But seriously, fruit flies were everywhere those first few months.

I have never smoked in my life and can't stand to be around it, but even I think that the laws are going a bit to far to punish smokers. Anyone here ever had or know someone that has been fined or anything for smoking? (Not sure what the rule or laws is for a penalty.)
