First let me say I have never cared for Star Trek. I rented that new one because of how popular it was but basically it's a generic action movie with Star Trek characters superimposed on them.

This shit is unwatchable.

Unwatchable?! That is a bit of a stretch. Name 5 movies that were better in 2009.

I thought it was great.

I dunno but this sucks so far. They're supposed to be in the future but they act like modern American people. Makes no sense.

Those were the 5 best films of 2009 to me (in no particular order)

Oh ya. Forgot about District 9. That was great.

Have not seen Inglorious or Zombie yet, this is a good reminder.

Inglorious Basterds and Zombieland are both better than Star Trek, IMO.

Star Trek was entertaining, and I thought a few of the characters showed promise (young Spock most notably) - but that's about all the good I can say about it.

If you don't mind slowish films, I watched "An Education" a few days ago and really enjoyed it. Really solid performances from Peter Sarsgaard and Alfred Molina.

I hate to be the one to break this to you but there hasn't been an original movie that has come out of Hollywood in twenty years, if not more.

I guess I need to hyphenate Holly-wood on this site if I mean the city?

I saw the whole thing it was better than I thought. The beginning scenes were very generic and boring but then it gets better.

I now Hollywood has been making the same movie for 20 years now with some exceptions.

I gave my girlfriend and her roommates a ton of shit for liking the Star Trek movie. Then I watched it. As someone who never liked the show (at all), I really though the movie was quite good.

District 9 is a movie that should come with a disclaimer to tell the audience make sure you watch beyond the 1st 30 mins...otherwise you miss a great flick. The beginning is a different style of film, almost a documentary within a film.

...on the other topic of this thread I wasn't blown away by Star Trek.
