Just watched this documentary on the beer industry. Focuses on the little guys battle against the big breweries. Entertaining and worth the time.

Reminded me why I quit buying macro brewed beers.

If you have Netflix it is available to watch "free."

A small list of favorites:

Lost Coast Brewery makes some great beer (www.lostcoast.com) and I like the Great White.

Flying Dog Brewery is great (www.flyingdogales.com) and I like the In Heat Wheat.

New Belgium Brewing Company (www.newbelgium.com) makes a lot of great beers, but the Mighty Arrow Pale Ale is a favorite.

And a personal (local) favorite is the Papago Brewing Company (www.papagobrewing.com). I am stuck on the Orange Blossom. My all time favorite.

I tend toward the lighter side, and don't care for the "bigger" beers.

The great thing about micros is that no matter where you go you can find some great beers. Life is too short to drink crappy beer.

You got some favorites?

Good list there, Syklone.

I too like Great White from Lost Coast. My favs are Twilight Ale and Obsidian Stout from Deschutes and Full Sail Pale Ale. Also, a local brewery here, Hangar 24, has a good Orange wheat beer.

Thanks for the heads up on the Hangar 24 Orange Wheat. Went to their site and saw that it is readily available across CA. I will be giving that a try.

I visited the brewery location back in December and was amazed at how small and hands on the operation actually is. Locals come there to fill growlers, buy six packs and get kegs filled, or just drink while watching the employees work. You see a lot of the ingredients sitting around on pallets and employees making the beer. A sixer runs $10 at the site and its the same price at the 2-3 stores we visited in the Redlands area. One funny thing I noticed was the level of beer is slightly different in each beer you get in the 6 pack, something I've never seen before. I haven't seen the beer since we visited that day, so I think it's probably not distributed too many places.

used to work at Joe Canals, so I have been able to taste every micro beer made really. By far my favorites are DogFish Head Pumpkin Ale and Shipyard Export. Those are just my personal favorites but there are way to many to list that are great. Have no idea how any one can even drink Coors Light, Bud or any of the regular stuff when there is so much better quality beer out there.

I did have a chocolate stout from Brooklyn Brewery (?) and it was damn good. Breckenridge Brewery makes a killer Vanilla Porter too.

Brooklyn is quality as well. like their Pennant Ale the best. I'm telling you though, if you ever get the chance try the Rouge Hazelnut Brown Nectar. You can't get em in a sixer, only come in 22oz bottles. Has also won award for Worlds Best Beer at the World Beer Championships a few times.

its a bit heavy, I'm really not a Brown Ale guy but this stuff is so good it doesn't even resemble a Brown Ale. If your not into that Dead Guy Ale is off the charts as well.

I know Bell's from Kalamazoo is out in some parts of the east. The Two-Hearted Ale is well worth checking out.
