I go to the gym regularly (4 times a week), and wanted to change things up a bit, so I bought P90x last week.

Let me tell you guys, it's worth every bit of money you spend on it. This program is tough as balls. If you can keep up with the program, I guarantee it will change your fitness level tremendously.

Anyone else tried it out?

I went through it about a year ago and just finished it a second time through about 2 weeks ago. Both times I had great results as I use it as a method to get cut for the summer.

The yoga is too long and I do high interval cardio on that day. I also think the Kenpo is too easy. Outside of those 2 things, I can't ask for much more.

If you liked it and want something harder in the cardio arena, try the Insanity series put out by the same company (Beach Body). Hardest cardio I've ever done (most of it makes Plyo seem almost easy). The entire series is too much cardio and not enough strength training but I use it once or twice a week in addition to lifting.

Yeah...I've heard good things about Insanity as well. I do enough cardio on my own with spin classes and running, but definitely have heard good things.

I would be interested in seeing how tough the cardio is with Insanity though.

I heard this is absolutely terrific if you are already in decent shape and you are looking to take it to the next level and get cut...

Is this true??

If you are out of shape, is this program to dramatic??

I think that the program is setup for people to go at their own pace. For example...I did the chest & back workout today, and it calls for pull ups, but they show you methods to use other than a standard pull ups....you can use a band attached to a door or you can use a chair to assist with the pull ups.

I don't know about someone who is REALLY out of shape, but it really tries to work with a lot of different fitness levels.

I had the same question. I'm not completely out of shape, but i haven't worked out at a gym in like 10 months. I have 2 kids under 2 years old so i don't really have too much time for the gym, so i'm seriously looking into this.

What type of equiptment is needed? Dumbells and a pullup bar?

Oh, and is ebay the best bet for getting this? I sure as hell don't want to shell out $150 for some dvd's.

I'm sure you can get it from a torrent site for free. I'm actually downloading the Insanity series as we speak. The only thing that you won't get is the Nutrition Guide or the Fitness Guide, but in my opinion, you don't really need them.

The Fitness Guide just describes in writing what the exercises are, but it's explained in the video.

For P90X, you definitely need a pull up bar (about $25 at Wal-Mart, $50 for the more expensive ones), and some weights or a good resistance band (about $15 at Wal-Mart, but make sure it's not too thin because it may not be hard enough). Weights are better but more expensive. If you already have weights of varying degrees (say a 10lb, 25lb, 45lb sets) you would be golden.

I this something you do at the gym or at home? I know where I can download the program free.

You do them at your house. I just got done downloading the "Insanity Deluxe Program", and it actually includes everything....Calendar, Nutrition Guide, etc.

I did the first 10 minutes of the first video......I can tell this is a freaking ball buster and will live up to it's name.

Torrent root is really good. I searched Insanity Beachbody, and the first result was really fast and complete.

I haven't checked the P90X on there yet because I have the DVDs.

I started it today. For anyone who wants to do it, if you were to start next Monday (3/1), your 90th day would fall on the weekend of Memorial Day. The timing could not be better.

So I did the chest and back routine today. I am 31 and have fallen out of shape in the past three years. I was able to do 25 pushups on the first set, and 5 unassisted pullups. After that, you can put your foot on a chair for leverage to complete the set. From what i hear, by the end of the program those numbers will increase dramatically. If pullups are completely out of a persons capability, the resistance bands can be used as a substitute.

Furmanski is right, the program is what you make of it. If you aren't able to keep up, you can pause it or take a break. Its that simple. But that should not deter someone from trying it. Now is the time...

Well, I wanted to see how Insanity was.....I've done some pretty intense stuff before, but this was crazy tough. Did the Fit Test and part of the first video. I was dripping sweat and my heart was about to pump out of my chest.

Thanks for the recommendation....will definitely be added to my schedule. WOW!!!

I am not hating on this program. But no reason to be paying for fitness advice with the internets. There are tons of good sites to find out anything and everything about fitness.
Even youtube has some decent stuff for those that don't want to read.

I did P90X for a few weeks thanks to my friend cut-paste-hommie who hooked me up.

Personally, I like going to the gym, but I did like the program a lot and what I do is that I combine some of the exercises in P90X with the stuff I do regularly at the gym.
