quest...I have played tennis and at a competitive level almost all of my life and decently successful I must say. Having said that it is extremely difficult to A. switch completely into clay court mode after playing so much on hard court to start the season and to start the season so successfully for the young guy. and B. he is extremely young and just now developing his clay court game.

As a player who has played all over the south as a junior and then in college you do not play on clay at all like the rest of the world does.

He will develop an all around game but don't forget Sampras never won RG and it took R Fed a few early round exits to finally do it.

Completely agree! Same thing happens when most of the Argentinians and Spaniards play Indoor Hard or on Grass..

I remember few years back when Spain had to play Austria in Davis Cup. Austrians as the home country got the chance to choose the surface,an they went with...carpet. Carlos Moya said soon afterwards : ''I am not travelling at all''
