This was in Today's New York Post....by Cindy Adams

WILL Albany's coneheads pay attention to what they're losing while they dither and dicker about this gambling racino thing?

John Cusack: "A hot hand with dice is my idea of heaven. I can't describe it. Anyone who thinks gambling isn't for them would instantly change if they caught a winning streak playing craps."

Ed Norton: "For me, poker. Poker is about interpersonal gamesmanship. When you're skilled, it's no longer a game of chance. It's about the bluff, reading your opponent, it's the ego of it, it's knowing when to fold."

Ben Affleck is adrenalized in a casino. When he beat the two-time World Poker champ and won a $130,000 pot in Vegas, he tipped the dealer $1,400. When he won $140,000 at blackjack, betting $4,500 a hand, he gave away all his earnings to the casino staffers.

Linda Fiorentino won her "Men in Black" role at a card table. "I met Barry Sonnenfeld in a poker game, and by the end of it I had the job. I also won the game. With a $1,200 pot, no less."

Drew Carey: "I gamble without feeling guilty about it. I lost my father as a child, was sexually molested, twice tried to commit suicide. I don't think I have to worry about taking chances."

Samuel Jackson: "I'm a big fan of casino action -- the good kind and the bad. I just like to gamble and see people on incredible highs and lows."

Nicole Kidman: "I love trying my luck at casinos. I'm like a little old woman who puts my glasses on, and I watch what I'm doing and don't like anyone to talk to me. And I love the cocktails -- those apple martinis and cosmopolitans they bring around."

Bruce Willis once walked away with a $500,000 baccarat payout in Atlantic City.

It's been said Julia Roberts has done 12-hour gambling binges.

For Michael Jordan, it's blackjack at the $500 table.

For Andrew Dice Clay, it's slots. He hit one for $10,000.

Gladys Knight once had a $40G-a-night gambling addiction.

At the Broadway Billiard Cafe in the Flatiron District, Kiefer Sutherland twice lost to one guy who didn't want to play anymore. Shouted Kiefer: "You're a p - - -y." Said the guy: "If a p - - -y is the one who leaves with the other fellow's money, then that's me."

Vegas types say Tiger Woods was down $400,000 one Saturday night at the MGM Grand. Returning again, hours before his 9 a.m. takeoff, he played multiple hands at $10,000 each and not only won that back but an extra $80,000.

In Tahoe, the NBA's Charles Barkley was screeching out a rendition of "My Way" with former footballer Marcus Allen. He was really bad. Meanwhile, he was playing four hands at a time with $5,000 chips. At one point his bodyguard scooped up $150,000 of his chips with, "You're not getting these back tonight unless you can kick the crap out me, and you know you can't do that." Barkley stopped.

There's the night Drew Barrymore kept playing until dawn. Supposedly she "finished up" winning about $17,000.

Australia media mogul Kerry Packer won $20 mil at the MGM Grand. Two years later when he won a mere $7.45 mil, he threw the dealer a million-dollar tip.

I'm told that awhile back Chevy Chase, wearing sunglasses indoors and an orange Princeton cap, hit roulette for $5,250 at Mohegan Sun.
Matt Damon, who played in the 1998 Poker World Series, went out on the first day.

As mayor, Ed Koch favored gambling in New York. So he made a visit to Nevada, where he asked the cashier to change a dollar. Incredulous, she said: "Wha-att?!" He wanted four quarters to try the machine. He got them. He lost. He stopped playing.

Céline Dion's a compulsive shopper. Husband René Angélil is a gambling addict. They are now, each, every day, given equal amounts of cash in an envelope. Neither can spend more that day. If they do, neither gets any the next day.

* This last one is So True, as I have sat right Next to him at the Table at the Mirage.

Great post, like to read things like these. It would be so cool to sit next to Drew Barrymore and or Chevy Chase and play. I never knew how bad of life Drew Carey had as a child. That is very sad. Glad to see him make it big time after what he lived through.

Played BJ at 8 am in the Mirage with Chevy Chase for about 30 minutes and didn't even know it was him till after he got up. He was sitting in the 6 seat real quiet wearing a hat and trying not to be noticed. It wasn't till after he got up, and the dealer told myself and the other guy sitting there that we just were playing with Chevy Chase.

was in a poker tourny couple years ago in Tahoe. ben Affleck is in the game filming smokin aces at the time. dont remember the board exactly but its 4 or 5 hearts. 3 players go all in. seat 2 shows nut flush ace of hearts in hand. seat 4 shows straight flush. affleck on the button shows nut flush ace of hearts in hand. dealer fucked up and dealt an extra card from next deck, an ace of hearts.

Affleck went dummy about it. Hollering about the strength of hands in Tahoe as compered to most casinos.

Great story Sunday Tiger. Oh how great it would have been to just out of the blue start doing the little noise that he was humming or whatever in Caddy Shack. (Na-na-na-na-na-na-na.)
