Please, I would really like to hear some of your thoughts on this game in terms of how much it means to your country. I've been listening to the talking heads all throughout the Olympics how if the US should win it would be great for us, but if we lose, people wouldn't lose any sleep over it. But that it is so much different for Canada. Is that really true? Would love to hear some of your thoughts on the relevence of the gold medal game.

To me, it is the equivalent of an American watching the USA basketball team at the Summer Olympics. Whatever that means to you guys.....

Should we lose, I won't lose any sleep over it. We're sort of in a no-win situation. We're supposed to win, so if we do, all non-Canadians will down play it. If we lose, you guys will rag on us forever lol.

USA Basketball? No, more like if Canada beat us in the Super Bowl.

This is our Superbowl !!!

Does NOT get any bigger than this sports wise in Canada.

Maybe a Toronto-Montreal Stanley Cup Finals would be on the same level but we may not see that again in my lifetime...

Was going to see it in 93 until the Refs decided to ignore a blatant high stick by The Great One on Gilmour that resulted in the Kings making it to the finals instead of Toronto ~~:<<~~:<<~~:<<

Idiotic statement... :ohno:

The rest of the World has caught up to Canada in Hockey...the Ruskies, Czechs, U.S, Swedes to name a few can win on any given night.

Canada has just over 500K kids in Youth hockey and the U.S has just under 500K in YOuth Hockey....so it's nowhere near the discrepancy it was 20-30 yrs ago.

I highly doubt any of those Countries would beat Canada in a 7 game series...but in a one-game winner takes all you can't take away what a hot goaltender can do.

It will be devastating to Canada but nowhere near a setback like you've claimed...

The U.S losing in mens Olympic basketball to a team with zero NBA'ers is more in line with your statement...

Being from the Burg, with no NBA team, I'll stick to my Super Bowl comparison. The SB is almost a national holiday down here. Even the commercials are first string. Well, most of them.

Dude...17 years...you've got to let it go. Leafs are the Cubs of the NHL and if it wasn't that, it would have been something else.

Sunday we will be getting plenty of camera shots of Wayne "Crybaby" Gretzky and his traitor biatch wife Janet crying in the stands.

They chanted "Bring on USA" when the Canadians barely held off the fiesty Slovakians.

Be careful what you wish for.

Team Canada - OVER-ATED!!!! OVER-ATED!!!!

Loser has to sleep with those ugly Team Canada hockey girls.

Now that's motivation to win!!!

Somebody drill Neidermeyer for me! And Crissy Pronger! Let me at 'em! Let me at 'em!

the only way it would be bigger is if the rival was russia, who is our most historic rival.

this is bigger than superbowl however, as national pride will be damaged if we lose this game.

Doesn't get any bigger than this for us sporting wise. A loss on our home turf would be devastating and would put a damper on an otherwise very successful games for the Canadian athletes.

Unbelievable amount of pressure on the team right now, and believe me, despite the "We want the USA" chants, we are nervous and the photo finish against the Slovaks did not help.

Seriously, do you write drivel like this just to pad your post count? You have no clue what you're talking about.

How will it set hockey back 30 years? Plenty of pride on the line, but beyond that, a loss would just make 2014 that much more interesting (assuming NHL players attend)

At least explain why...like a -200 superbowl tank job pick used to try and beef up a forum record.

It means the world to us!!!!!In 2002, 16.5 million Canadians watched the game. In a nation of 32 million, that's not as "Canadianized" as our friends down south our "Americanized" (I wish we were ) that's huge! It's like when Italy or Brazil loses a world cup final!!!

Our team is not over-rated! Second best defensive core ever assembled!!! (big three with Orr and Potvin in 70's untouchable!) Our goaltending stinks! Loungo made the highlight reels with his save at the end, but would have been a 3-0 or 4-0 victory if he didn't let in that awful cheap first goal! Huge edge for the States on Sunday! Anytime in a single game elimination, one teams goalie is vastly outplaying the other teams goalie, the team with the much better goaltending usually wins. Hopefully our boys upfront could make up for a inferior goaltending.

Don't believe the hype; it's nothing but an NHL All-Star game except everyone is trying to win. Next month, the players will be collecting paychecks and won't care.

I'll just go by what the guy on ESPN said.

"USA wants this, the Canadians NEED this."

Canada wins.

It works like this.

When the US wins at something, it's because they're "superior"

When the US loses at something, it's because the sport is stupid and they really don't care.

Case in point, World Cup soccer. When the US is winning, there's non stop chest thumping. As soon as they lose, all the soccer bashing resumes.

A nation of 300 million bandwagon jumpers.

I have a question.

When the Canadian Women's team won the Gold they came out on the ice with champagne and cigars.

Though I doubt it will happen, if the Canadian Men's team happens to win the gold, and especially with Crosby on the team, will they come out after their victory and be showered with flowers and perfume?@):)
