Dumb Question: Torrent site

I've just bought a new computer and want to download music, and the P90x. I don't want to put limewire on it because of the inevitablity of getting a virus.

How do torrent sites work? Can you give me the 101 class on it. Where do I go?

What are the chances of getting a virus or other unwanted things on my computer?

Any recommendations?

btjunkie.org - all files are rated, so files with lots of green and *no* red are safe

utorrent is the software I use, as it's simple and takes up almost no system resources

Google utorrent 2.0
download the free program.

Then find a torrent tracker
Find what you want on that tracker.
hit download torrent.
it will ask what program to download with.
hit utorrent 2.0 and your off.

the one I'm on is by invite only....not one problem whatsoever....

for the less computer literate, opening the torrent file with utorrent is the important part - there's no real reason to download/save torrents to your hard drive imo (it's just one more thing to delete when the feds come knocking). set opening the file with utorrent as the default action to take and off you go.

I have literally never come up short in a search. Iso searches all torrents.

1. Get a good bit torrent client (BitComet .7 works well in my experience)

2. Use http://thepiratebay.org

3. Only download torrents with skulls next to them

The Pirate Bay is the worlds largest bit torrent tracker.

The only thing I don't like about torrents is that you can't preview the movie while it's downloading. At least I don't know of a way. Does anyone know how to do this?

When I download porn I like to see if it's a movie I've seen already that has been renamed.

P2P programs like Limewire and Shareaza allow you to preview the movie while it's being downloaded.

ok you ***** i did the utorrent thingy and then went to btjunkie and found seinfeld season 1...am now downloading...

when finished how do i get it to itunes? see i have a tv that my ipod plugs into...

46 more payments and i own it...

A lot of torrents come with samples , If they do only download that and judge. I normally read the comments , a lot of useless ones but normally see the same guys giving honest ratings ie: Audio 7 Visual 9

love torrents... have a pc hooked up to my lcd tv and just remote desktop into it from my laptop, start the torrents going and then they show up in media center when they're done. nothing like watching 1080p bluray rips, i'll never go to the theatre again.
