my friends mom has the amazon Kindle. Amazing little thing. You virtually have access to ANY book thats available at amazon right at your finger tips. As far as the reading goes you can adjust the font and font size to whatever you like so you can comfortably read....it also has one of those screens that is glare free. really is amazing. If I was a hard core reader or even a part time reader I would absolutely have one.
Buy it off Craigslist ... so many people get Kindles as presents, and because they're lazy-asses they would rather watch soap operas instead of reading a book ... so there will be plenty of Kindle's on offer on Craigslist. You should get one for $200 and sometimes people will throw in a $25 cover.
