have downloaded movies and music for a while using torrents. just wondering if anyone on site has ever got a letter which told them to stop or feds coming to house to check pc's hard drive.
gotta be careful where u download from and what trackers u use and also read comments.. etc make sure 90% of it is thumbs up or positive feedback or don't bother.
I learned the hard way.. I got a letter when I downloaded THE WIRE seasons and it actually listed THE WIRE in the letter (it was from my Cable Company for internet. They basically threatend disconnection and / or fines to re-connect if every happened again. Needless to say I went back and read the comments and several people on piratebay mentioned getting a warning about downloading the wire from their internet providers.. so i guess they had a tracker/tap on that download.. oh well.. no i watch all shows and movies on divx direct downloads on the websites that have them.. if ur not saving a movie its the best way.. very fast and hd quality.
Ok so what if you download from newsgroups? Can they detect that too?
Like do they assume that you are downloading movies because you use a lot of bandwidth or can they actually go in and see that you downloaded The Matrix on dvd for example?
much safer with newsgroups, as the host servers are much more liable, where as torrents its individual users who are responsible. at least i assume this much.
