Everywhere I read about the Hurt Locker Winning....They are Calling it a Surprise !! or a Shock !

The Line for Best Movie at Two Shops that I use, had The Hurt Locker at -130

Avatar was +100

I think "they" are not aware of sportsbook line movements
let alone sharp betting opinions which knew HL would be
no surprise winner.

The public prefered Avatar over the relatively boring HL,
but academy voters are another animal.

I assume you are being facetious in your question but in case not - movie goers and rankings generally had avatar as best.

I'll align it to college hoops - unranked team beats a ranked team so its called an upset but vegas had the unranked team favored...

Yeah but you Can't always go with the Higher Grossing Movie.
PLUS.....There has Never been a Sci-Fi Movie to win Best Picture
( Ex: Star Wars )

IMHO, I Never Thought for a second that Avatar was going to win.

AVATAR had their chances diminished with TOM HANKS as the governing body of the Acadamy.............the HURT LOCKER much more meaningful of a film.

I can't believe I didn't wager on the HURT LOCKER...........the line was telling everybody the winner.

The line moved up and down all night long at betfair: THL started somwhere around -110, went up as high as +160 and after taking down sound editing+mixing, screenplay it even fell to ~ -165.

I agree(d). I hammered Hurt Locker throughout yesterday at Matchbook in the +100 to -120 range.
