When you talk 'all time greatest rock bands'?

I mean the band only featured Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, and Eric Clapton.
(Beck and Page at the same time)

Yardbirds eventually evolved into Led Zep.

Did Jimmy Page dabble in the occult in those early years? Or was it only after Zep had formed did he experiment with the dark side? Listen to the solo in "Dazed And Confused" and somewhere in the mix, Page and the dark side had their mojo working. I think Clapton probably got more notority with Dereck And The Dominoes and "Layla" during this era, but yes collectively these three were the best of the best of their time.

Not sure if they would be considered in the best. You would include them in the most influential though.

same here...would say the high teens in a top 20 class...

Thought this was an Orioles thread. Since i've already gone to the extend of reading the entire thing, the Orioles will win 77 games and rank 3rd in the AL East.:)<<

For the short time they were together I would rate Buffalo Springfield right up there with the Yardbirds. They had a huge influence in starting the country rock movement that came later with CSN&Y, The Eagles, The Byrds and Poco. But for bluesrock, it would be hard to beat the bands that started it all like The Yardbirds and John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers. A band that started the careers of Eric Clapton, Mick Taylor and Peter Green.

I love Page and Clapton. Led Zeppelin is one of my all time favorite groups. However, I listened to The Yardbirds greatest hits on Zune a few days ago and their songs are terrible.
