Being vikes fan, hated seeing taylor go to bears, but if they can get LT that could be better.

What you think?

Taylor is a very good short yardage runner. LT is done.

Nothing left, believe me. I'm a LT fan. When a rb lacks speed and explosiveness at the line, you are done.

yeah, this one isn't even close...taylor young back with a lot of tread left on the tires...LT, based on last year, can't make people miss, doens't have the explosion he used to have in his prime. I, too, am a big LT fan, but if you have your pick of the two backs, there is no one in their right mind who would take LT over Taylor at this point in their respective careers...

LT has a ton left. He has just been dinged and his offensive line has deteriorated lately. He's still better than 90% of the NFL RBs.

Chester Taylor was an average back playing behind the best offensive line in football last year. LT is an above average back playing behind a dinged offensive line while battling injuries. He'll average 5+ if the Vikings sign him.

Jake probably was picking potatoes during last season. Marvin Harrison is still an elite receiver also, and can that Jake Delhomme heave it or what?

LT has never ever run people over. He cuts on a dime and slashes upfield. excellent vision. He's preserved himself by running OOB instead of punishing defenders ala A.P. That said... LT has lost a step. His style of running requires top speed and agility. He doesn't have what he had before which is what made him great.

It's weird what running behind a disintegrating offensive line does to a player. You guys all want to chalk it up to him just getting old...? Give me a break.

Darren Sproles went from 5.4 yards a carry to 3.7. I guess he's losing a step too, right?

Sproles had only 61 carries when he avg'd 5.4 and only 93 last season, both over 16 games. The prior year he was 4.4. How much can you really read into an average when it amounts to 4 carries per game? When he was 5.4, heading into the final game of the season he was at 4.6 and had a big game.

This has nothing to do with LT, just don't think Sproles' average change means has to mean that he lost or that his line was worse.

LT has definitely lost a step. Whether he can still have success somewhere in the NFL remains to be seen. Everyone seems to have a strong opinion. Personally, I'm not sure, but I think he can still have some success in the right situation, but as to the original question, no he is not as valuable right now as Chester Taylor. Although it's funny, they are virtually the same age, but CT has far fewer miles logged.

I understand the 'tires' point, but LT and CT are both 30 years old.

chester taylor has been the best 3rd down back for 2 years running...way more valuable in that spot than LT would be....is it worth 7M bucks though? probably not.
