I will not -- I WILL NOT -- pay attention to my rank, the number of players left, or the money position except during break time. I will not, while the game is in progress, check these things. I will play poker instead. The time I spend looking at these things could be better spent studying the play of my opponents.

Those things can be important to keep an eye on but like you said its best to keep it limited.Don't go getting all flustered when you have 20k chips with blinds 200/400 just because you are near last position, you still are doing fine.Don't go getting all excited and feel invinsible just because you are near the top with a lot of game left to play.Play smart, use all knowlege and skill that you possess to you're advantage, but know that you are gonna have to work hard and be disciplined(and a little luck along the way is always good too) to win over the long haul.Gotta know what to throw away and what to keep;and checking rank all the time is definitely a hand I would fold.Cheers

personally, i think it's good to keep track of the blinds in relation to your chip stack -- especially once you get to a point where if you enter a pot you're committing yourself.

i have a bad habit of clicking on the screen that shows # of players left, payout structure, and all that. i think that keeps me from playing a better game because i start focusing more on lasting another half dozen players than putting myself in a position to actually win the damn thing

Yea ,I agree with that.Keeping track of the blinds in relation to you're chipstack is most important. As long as you have a healthy chip stack in relation to the blinds it doesn't really matter too much what place you are in.Just keep you're head above water till you reach the shore,,,,,then Attack!!!!!!!!!!!!

lol, that's a good one......i'm seeing a lot of folks who raise minimum are weak as hell......you're right, about 8 out of 10 they go away, a lot of times i make it a point to stay in a multi way pot, and as soon as they bet the flop i raise.....it's the knucklehead who bets minimum and then shoves when you raise that you gotta watch out for
