He's not going to be available for big league action until early May, at the earliest. Chris Perez, acquired last season from the Cardinals in a package for Mark DeRosa, will serve as the Indians' closer in the early going and could potentially retain the job if he pitches well enough. An MRI on Thursday revealed the strain underneath Wood's right shoulder.
