Louis Oosthuizen was the runner-up two strokes back at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Rabat. A quartet including Thomas Aiken and Thomas Levet shared third place, seven shot adrift of Davies. This is the first time the tournament has been an official European Tour event. The 24-year-old Davies was a decorated amateur at East Tennessee State, where he was a three-time First-Team American, won 10 times and led the nation in scoring average in 20005-06. He also represented Europe twice in the Walker Cup and four times in the Palmer Cup. Although certainly a longshot to qualify for the Ryder Cup, which will be contested in his homeland for the first time, this has to get the attention of captain Colin Montgomerie. This is Davies' first European Tour victory.
