has anyone here had a root canal?

went to the dentist today because of pain and the fact that i could feel a large gap in my tooth.

got x rayed, saw that the whole filling was gone and was full of food over the months.

got it scraped out, put a temp in.

said it was 50/50 depending on if i feel more pain after the temp is in.

she thought maybe root canal because i couldnt feel any cold, but i could slightly, took a couple seconds.

i asked the girl if it hurt and she said its overrated, that the people who are infected and swollen have it bad, but on average its not that bad.

someone here must have had one though

Seioursly, I have had a few and they really are no big deal. I had a fear of dentists from when I was young and never would go, I finally went and made them gas me up and everything. My teeth were really fucked in the back when I finally went. Now that I finally have them fixed I go all the time and when I need anything major done it is no problem at all. No more gas before or pain meds (x-abuser) after.

If you get one a long time after the crown was put in, it can suck because they may have to pop the crown off to finish the job. Usually it's not that bad, but if your dentist has a hard time finding the canals while filling them, it can be quite painful. Basically what I'm saying is go to an endodontist and you'll be fine

That was kind of me ^^^ they have to Gas my @ss, then he can drill my mouth all he wants.

To be out of pain and able to drink/eat properly again is worth the cost. Gtc, if you don't have insurance, ask for a cash discount. I could never consider a dentist a real doctor because a real doctor wouldn't haggle over price

i got insurance but itll only cover 50 percent, 1000 for the procedure.

They don't hurt much these days as you will be all numb but that is beside the point. What is important is the health of your teeth. Think of it as something that will save you a lot more grief down the road if you let the situation worsen by doing nothing.

I have had numerous root canals and the worst part is keeping your mouth wide open so the dentist can do the work.

Absolutely nothing to be afraid of. Think of the money as a investment in yourself. However just in case you really do not require root canal in this instance here is some materiel on the subject called:

I just went through 2- 3 hour seatings and had 6 fillings redone and 2 crowns. They numb your mouth so much you feel nothing. No need for gas. As someone mentioned the real pain is the bill. Fuckin insurance...wait O'bumble has that all fixed..(sorry had to)
