the problem is that the size screen that you want is not the cheapest one (a 16 inch screen laptop may be the same price or cheaper!!! than a 13 inch)

that said, I prefer smaller screens myself

my current one is a hp dm3-1030us, paid 550 bucks back in December and got a 50 dollar rebate (getting the rebate of course is a hit-miss thing)

caveats

the touchpad is terrible..........and it doesnt have a huge processing power plus it doesnt have an optical drive, I simply attach an external mouse if I know I am going to be doing lots of work......I don't do anything cpu intensive in the machine.......and I rarely if ever need the dvd drive

so for me, that machine works (and it looks pretty cool as well)

I would say dont get shit till black friday. My father bought a 17inch Blue-ray playing sony laptop for $500 flat. It came with windows 7 and all the software extras. This computer kicks ass!

Actually I would avoid Black Friday deals. The last few years have seen average deals at best. They look tempting on paper but the prices are usually no different from what could be accomplished if you know how to work the deals in your favor.

Plus, a lot of the laptops sold on BF tend to have batteries that are not sent out with full charge capabilities. There is a reason those batteries tend to seem weak in terms of staying power.
