The 49ers' second-round pick is only 49th, but they could conceivably add another player or pick to entice the Eagles. The Rams, Browns and Cardinals have denied interest, and the Vikings, Seahawks, Broncos and Jaguars are not believed to be in the mix to acquire McNabb.

Werder does point out that McNabb would be "the ideal replacement" for Favre because he's so familiar with Brad Childress' offense and the Vikings' coaching staff. The Vikes are not pressuring Favre to make an announcement, despite McNabb's immediate availability.
