Here is a video of a tiger making very quick work of a croc. I would imagine a lion would be just as successful.

Alligator or crocodile?

There are videos at Youtube and it looks like the Crocs are basically fearless of the lions because the lions cant really hurt them......

After watching this video a few times, I think a lion would win nearly every time, 1 ft. of water or not. As soon as the tiger got on the croc's back, it was over.

Not 1 ft. The deeper the water gets, the more the advantage would go to the gator but I would still think the lion would prevail.
