Hi there guys, I'm new to this forum... Well actually I've been observing and investing in sports for a long time. Now that I am retired, I figured I would share my picks on the forum. I have been posting in the NHL thread and some of you guys know me already. In this thread I will hopefully =) be posting daily MLB picks. I try to select 1-2 picks per day, in the past I was a victim of betting too many games. Its a long season, esp. in the MLB. MLB can be a grind and sometimes you really have to go against the grain.
I am a pretty conversative investor, always have been when I was in the stock market. I look at sports very much like the stock market actually. There is good value and bad value. Coming from the financial world and now well for the last 6-7 years investing in sports, I have to say sports has many advantages. The biggest advantage is you can turn your money over in 3hours instead of 3 months with a short term investment stock. Anyways, I dont want to babble on about the stock market... I prefer sports. Well when I started to be honest I was really caught up in the emotional and gambling aspect of sports betting and its hard not to be emotional attached to it. Thats why the books win, because people go on tilt. I've made a promise to myself that I will bore sports investing with great money management and great discipline, sometimes I dont even watch. Even though I like to =) haha. But the biggest objective is not overbet any games, not even the superbowl.... Funny how many advertisements there on covers.... looking at one right now win your way to riches. haha makes me laugh, well you wont win your way to riches, but you can grow your bankroll and live off sports.
I guess my biggest tip to anyone is dont get emotionally involved and treat sports like an investment. Use money management and be discipline because tomorrow there will be another 12 games =).
Anyways the old guy has go on long enough. Best of luck to everyone this MLB season.
