4/6 - Arizona/San Diego Under 9.5

Love the pitching matchup here. Jackson is coming off a 14-11 season with a sub 4.00 ERA and C. Young is coming off an injury plague year in 2009. He is a former All Star though with a 4.43 ERA against the Diamondbacks.

Why do I like this play? Because both offenses are dog shit. I like decent pitching against terrible hitting all day long. Last year, San Diego hit a league worst .242 and scored the 2nd lowest amount of runs in baseball. Quite simply, they suck.

Arizona sucks just as bad and their bright spot from last year (Mark Reynolds) is only 2-12 lifetime against C. Young.

Two quality pitchers against two terrible lineups equals an under.

Key Stats:

Under is 14-2 in SD last 16 games following a loss.
Under is 12-4 in SD last 16 games as an underdog.
Under is 8-3 in ARI last 11 games as a favorite.
Under is 7-3 in ARI last 10 Tue. games.

Its a hitters park. Check the status and see how the under has done @ arizona.. I bet those unders in arizonas games are on the road. I mean stephen drew hit a inside the park homer yesterday. Dont let arizona fool you they are going to be a good offensive team this year.

2-0 +2 Units on the year

Going to jump on board and back solid pitching against a lineup that's only scored 2 runs in two games to start the year.

Think Cain comes out and pitches a gem. He was 14-8 with a 2.89 ERA last year with a 3.52 ERA against the Astros last year. Who knows what you'll get with Brett Myers? He had an injury-plagued year last year posting a 4-3 record with a 4.84 ERA. He split the time between the bullpen and starting rotation but is supposedly healthy but who knows?

Think the Giants come out and sweep the series and send Houston to their second season opening sweep in the last four years.

Key Stats:
SF are 8-1 in their last 9 overall
SF are 8-1 in their last 9 games on grass
SF are 8-2 in their last 10 Wed. games
HOU are 7-20 in their last 27 overall
HOU are 7-20 in their last 27 games on grass
HOU are 8-21 in their last 29 games as an underdog

Way to start the season, SF looks like a solid play today. They have improved their offense and Wilson in the pen is nasty, 2-2 in save opps. Houston is going to have many problems this season scoring runs and their pitching is to say the least suspect.
Today is 3 team parley:
SF ml
Cards ml
Chisox/Cle UN

Good luck on your plays

Like the Dodgers here after losing their first two to the Pirates. Dodgers are the better team and we all know that and I think it shows today.

Paul Maholm was just 8-9 with a 4.44 ERA last year including 0-3 with a 5.59 ERA against the Dodgers. Dodgers counter with Chad Billingsley who started 2009 9-3 with a 2.72 ERA over his first 14 starts but ended just 12-11 with a 4.03 ERA. Think Billingsley comes out today and starts off the season well against the Bucs.

Key Stats:

LA are 7-1 in their last 8 Thu. games
PIT are 5-17 in their last 22 Thu. games
PIT are 4-9 in their last 13 games following a win
LA are 47-19 in the last 66 meetings

Really like the Diamondbacks in this spot. If you've read my previous posts you'll notice a trend, I like to wager on decent to good teams with decent pitching against bad to terrible teams that can't hit and that's the case again tonight.

What I like here is the fact that this same time last year Charlie Morton was starting for Pittsburgh and in those first 11 starts he was only 2-6 with a 5.51 ERA. He finished the year 5-9 with a 4.55 ERA but I think he comes into Arizona tonight and gets roughed up a bit.

Morton will face journeyman Rodrigo Lopez who made 5 starts for the Phillies last year. What I like about Lopez is the fact that in Spring Training he had a 1.64 ERA with 16K's in 22 innings. I think he comes out today and throws a decent game against a sub par lineup or at least he holds them down enough.

The Diamondbacks just have the Pirates' number. Last year they took 6 of 7 from the Bucs hitting 14 homers. The Diamondbacks hit the second most HR's in MLB after the All Star Break last year and have continued that trend hitting 6 in their opening series against the Padres. That trend continues tonight.

Key Stats:
PIT are 11-40 in their last 51 road games
PIT are 21-47 in their last 68 overall
PIT are 2-7 in the last 9 meetings in Arizona
PIT are 8-20 in the last 28 meetings

Can't believe I'm saying this but I'm going to back a 47-year-old LHP for the fightin' Phils today. How can you not back the Phils at only -132 against the terrible Astros. Coming into this game, the Astros are trying to avoid their worst start in 27 years and the Phillies are trying to get off to their best start in 17 years. The Phillies took game 1 in this series 8-0 and are picking up where they left off last year by scoring 32 runs and 52 hits through their first 4 games.

How can I back Moyer? Well, during spring training this year Moyer was fantastic going 2-0 in 3 starts with a 1.53 ERA, walked 0 and struck out 15 in 17 and 2/3 innings. He's a crafty vet that faced the Astros 3 times last year without a decision.

As for the Astros starter? Well, they throw RHP Felipe Paulino who went just 3-11 with a 6.27 ERA in 17 starts last year. In fact, during one stretch where he lost 7 straight games his ERA ballooned to nearly 8.00.

Phils offense is just too much. Rollins in the leadoff spot is hitting .467 with a .591 on-base percentage while Polanco is hitting .579. Just too much offense and at -132 I'll back the Phils against this terrible team any day of the week.

Key Stats:
Phillies hitting .347 against RHP so far this year
Astros hitting .200 against LHP so far this year
HOU are 3-11 in their last 14 Sat. games
HOU are 6-21 in their last 27 overall
HOU are 6-21 in their last 27 games on grass

Congrats on another win man! You are on fire

Thanks partner. I was watching the gamecast in the car and I saw we were down until the 7th but you just can't keep the Phillies offense down. They are going to be tough to beat this year.

Really like the under in this spot today. The Chisox are on a 4-game losing streak in which they've only hit .180, have scored only 10 runs and are 4-28 with runners in scoring position. The Twins aren't much better as they're only hitting .238 on the year. The first two games of the series have gone under.

Mark Buehrle pitched a shutout on opening day for the Chisox only victory on the season. Over his lifetime he's 23-16 with a 4.09 ERA against the Twins. Buehrle owns the big two for the Twins. Morneau and Mauer are a lifetime .196 and .229.

Nick Blackburn takes the mound for the Twins with a 1-0 and 4.05 ERA. He's won his last four starts against the White Sox going into the 7th in each outing giving up a total of 5 runs. He hasn't given up a run in Chicago in his last 14 innings.

Two quality pitchers against two struggling lineups means a big under for us today.

Key Stats:

Under is 7-1-1 in MIN last 9 overall
Under is 6-1-1 in MIN last 8 road games
Under is 6-1-1 in MIN last 8 on grass
Under is 34-15-2 in CHW last 51 overall
Under is 33-16-2 in CHW last 51 on grass
Under is 9-2 in the last 11 meetings
Under is 6-2 in Buehrles last 8 starts vs. MIN
White Sox hitting .181 against RHP
