You Can Fill in the Blanks......................@)

BOSTON -- After going hitless Tuesday for a second straight game to start the season, Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz lashed out at reporters when reminded that his struggles last April and May would be a hot topic if he was slow at the start of this season as well.

"Good," he said, turning to face the reporters encircling him. "You guys wait 'til [expletive] happens, then you can talk [expletive]. Two [expletive] games, and already you [expletives] are going crazy.

"What's up with that, man? [Expletive]. [Expletive] 160 games left. That's a [expletive]. One of you [expletives] got to go ahead and hit for me."
Ortiz was handled with ease Sunday night by Yankees left-hander CC Sabathia, who retired Ortiz on two rollers and an infield fly.

Against right-hander A.J. Burnett Tuesday, Ortiz smoked a ball into the teeth of an overshifted Yankees defense, right at second baseman Robinson Cano, turning a likely hit sans shift into an easy out in Boston's 6-4 loss to New York.

He grounded out again to Cano in the third before going down swinging on a nasty curveball from Burnett to end the fifth. In the eighth, against left-handed reliever Damaso Marte, Ortiz hit a harmless fly to center.

Manager Terry Francona was asked Tuesday night whether he'd given any thought to having Mike Lowell hit for Ortiz against Marte after Kevin Youkilis' leadoff single put the potential tying run on base.

"No," Francona said. "We're two games into the season. I don't think we want to start doing that. That's not because Mikey can't hit. But the big picture needs to be remembered."

Ortiz struggled mightily to start last season, hitting just .185 during April and May with one home run and 18 RBIs.

He turned his season around late, eventually finishing with 28 homers, 99 RBIs and a .238 average.

look. the guy is all done. who gives a crap what he hits

Here is the difference between a Yanks fan and a Bosox fan (me) I don't feel the need to be super awesome and win a title every year. So stuff like this doesn't bother me.

I would love to be a Cubs fan right now. You heard me right : It would be fun to cheer for a team in a 100+ year drought for the simple reason you are hanging on to see something BIG happen much like the Socker Bockers in 2004. When it does finally happen it's EXHILARATING.

Ortiz helped us win 2 titles and was crucial to that. He can collect a pay check and hit .156 for the next 3 years for all I care.

His bat speed sucks. Mr.Octizzle is definitely slower. Can't fist it out like before on bad pitches.

I think he not be hitting the baseball good no more is cause, (although he lost some weight) he is to heavy cause he eats to much food. Also, he lost his baseball confidence in my opinion!

Yes, Papi is all done, and please don't label all Yankee fans as the need to be super awsone every season, all I want from my team (Yankees) is give me a reason to watch in October, it's beyond foolish to think any team is going to win a WS year in year out, but as long as my baseball team is in the thick of things when my favorite football team is playing for real on Sundays, then I am happy, but all Yankee fans are not super annoying Rob.

i'm sick of players saying "it's a 162 game season" - WE FUCKING KNOW. the issue is that every year it comes down to so few games that the games at the beginning matter just as much as those in September - especially h2h games /w teams that fight for their division.

So fans aren't allowed to accuse him of doping, but he can be an assholes in an interview.

Boston media is the absolute worst in ripping their players and teams. I was a kid when they were floating the "Get rid of Bird while he still has value" headlines. They will turn on Brady and Belicheck as well in a few years if they don't win another SB.

Papi was a dominant clutch hitter and clubhouse leader for their WS wins. The guy has been playing through a bad knee and wrist for 2 years. It is okay to be critical, but to jump his shit after 2 freaking games just shows how worthless the Boston media is. I'd love for Sox ownership to ban reporters from clubhouse and post game interviews and just pay the fines MLB throws at them.

If Papi turns it around during the season there will be no apologies from media. Fuck them. They deserved his rant. He's off to a slow start and they lost. What do they expect him to say? The guy isn't happy about not hitting well and losing.

Guys that are always kind and have a smile on their face (until yesterday) generally do get more of a "pass" when they get into trouble.
