Full Time Professional meaning that this is soley how you earn your living whether it is little(get by)income or big(living very comfortably)income. When people ask "what do you do for a living?"or "whats your job?"
What do you tell them?I'm not talking about close friends or family, more like regular acquaintances or people that you are just getting to know and growing relationships with?

Thanks for that link SD.I'm not really that concerned with jealousy though.More concerned with how people view it and make judgements. The stigma attached to it,legalities of it and stuff like that.I'm sure some of that was covered in the other thread but I just want the microscope to directed over the answers that PG's give when asked these types of questions.

most people will view you as a loser and a degenerate, b/c it is what they are taught to believe about sports bettors/pro gamblers........yet these same people will run out every night to play the state lottery.

Yea that's exactly what I mean?So I'm just wondering what some full time pros tell people when they ask.

For a person who doesn't really want to lie about it but doesn't really feel comfortable telling the truth about it either.

Best to keep it to yourself.....Most people think if they cant win at sports betting,no one can win at it.

Agreed, people will be more prone to ask to borrow $ because they feel like you just won it "gambling" and have an easy job. Also, tell the wrong people you could be reported to the IRS.

Just tell them you work in the investing business.

"I invest in the future possibilities of professional sports results."

Does anyone really live off gambling?

sounds to me like maybe you're trying to justify your lifestyle without having the type of job that would allow for it....i was in the same boat when i moved out here....most people don't know shit about the stock market....just tell em you day trade from time to time with money that you saved or whatever.....maybe you have a buddy you could say that every so often you and him flip a house....of course you don't wanna make someone think you're rich, especially if it's a chick, cause she gonna be expecting you to prove it....if you're trying to build a long term relationship, maybe drop in a comment about how you have 20 bucks on tonight's game....kind of introduce it like that so you can see the reaction.....

given the recent news, i would definitely not be letting anyone know that i was making serious cash betting over the internet until i got to know them....but i'm not a pro, you asked for a pro.....sorry....they got these websites now where you can do background checks on people or like 5 bucks, so someone could easily find out your arrest history, work history, all that bullshit....so it's really not worth trying to come up with an elaborate story....

most people who know me would believe that i won a million dollars on the wednsday night powerball before they'd believe that i grinded out 40k betting every day for 12 months

sadly, now that i think about it, i think the odds of me winning the powerball are better than me grinding out a 12 month living....think i'll buy 10 tickets tomorrow instead of the usual 5

i'm so depressed i can't even blink

if they are only casual acq you should not be telling them too much about you and they should not be asking too much. change the subject when they ask too much but it seems like you want to tell them enough so they keep asking
