Gallardo will receive a $1.25 million signing bonus as part of the new deal. He'll make $500,000 this season -- as opposed to his previously-renewed contract of $450,000 -- $3.25 million in 2011, $5.5 million in 2012, $7.75 million in 2013 and $11.25 million in 2014. The option for 2015 includes a $600,000 buyout. There's obviously some risk attached to such a lengthy commitment, but the 24-year-old is quickly emerging as one of the most promising right-handed pitchers in the National League. This contract may pay serious dividends down the line.

Steal. As a Cubs fan I'll openly say I'm very fond of Gallardo.. Kid's a stud. I fear him.

Fielder.. Meh, he'll prolly end up as the Yankees DH or some shit lol.. I read an atricle today joking that he'd end up at first in Chicago lol
