Unless I heard them wrong, the Rays radio team last night mentioned that Joe West would be in St Pete tonight for the Rays/Yankees. It was in context of them wondering if he would motivate the games to go faster, what with MLB's finger wagging at Yankees longer game times.
I was surprised to hear it because I didn't know that info was available in advance.
Disclaimer - I might have heard them say it in vein of, "i wonder if Joe West will be in town and if he'll affect game times", instead of "Joe West WILL be here..."
FINALLY...I will be live at that game and logged into the RxForum via the miracle of my new Google Android smartphone. I'll do my best to get umpires posted to an in-game thread within 30 minutes of start time
