Any thoughts on the packages offered for the whole season for MLB.

Directv is $200 for the whole season, I would think the online version offered by MLB would be cheaper.

I can't see buying online because you can see a lot of games online through various sites.

However they are unreliable and often not the clearest.

I read that you must have a phone line plugged into your receiver so they know when to blackout games. Has anyone bought the package and never plugged in the phone line? If so what happened? Also if you buy the package does it show on all receivers in your house or only one?

I know a lot of people have purchased so I appreciate the help.

I have the package and it shows the games for all the receivers in your house. I have a phone line plugged in, so i'm not sure about the blackouts.

I think Directv is worth it overall. Not only do you get two broadcasts from every game, so you watch the announcers you like, but they also have the MIX channel, and other good options.

MLB TV online is very nice, really great picture (i'd describe it as almost HiDef - even though they say it's HD). $19/month or $99 for the season I think.

I think they are having their free preview for a few days at this time. Check with your cable or satelite provider.

I have had the MLB Extra Innings on Directv for 4 years now and it is well worth the money. If you wager on the games or are just an MLB fan it is great.
I especially like channel 720 where you have 8 different games on one screen.

They will bill you over 5 months so it is not so bad.

Highly recommend.

I have been watching the freeview as I do whenever they offer it. Next time will be after all star break if they follow their usual pattern.

For those that have purchased DTV season, has anyone tried it without having a phone plugged in?

I know this may sound odd but what if you don't have a land line? A lot of gotten away from it with having cell phones or magicjack.

Thanks for the feedback so far and what will come.

Mine isn't plugged in and i paid for it. The blackout games are your local games, you get those anyways. All the saturday fox games are blacked out too.

the phone line doesnt matter, when you program the receiver you put in your zip code, I believe that is how they know your location
