Camano, Washington, U.S.</td> </tr> </tbody></table> Colton Harris-Moore (born March 22, 1991), better known as Colt in his home town, is a 19-year-old fugitive from Camano Island, Washington. He is suspected in the theft of at least three small aircraft, a boat, and a car,<sup id="cite_ref-holtz-09-dec_0-0" class="reference">[1]</sup> and in the burglaries of at least 50 private residences in various locations around the Pacific Northwest of the United States and Canada.<sup id="cite_ref-stevick_1-0" class="reference">[2]</sup><sup id="cite_ref-katu_2-0" class="reference">[3]</sup><sup id="cite_ref-3" class="reference">[4]</sup>
Because he has been observed running from the police barefoot (perhaps to conceal his footprints) he has been dubbed "the Barefoot Burglar" In addition to having drawn at at least one of his crimescenes, cartoonish feet in chalk mocking police. Colton Harris-Moore grew up in his mother's house in the Stanwood-Camano School District.<sup id="cite_ref-brooks-feb07_4-0" class="reference">[5]</sup> Neighbors said they made several calls to Child Protective Services, believing Colton was neglected or abused.<sup id="cite_ref-brooks-feb07_4-1" class="reference">[5]</sup> Colton was in and out of trouble since pre-adolescence, and police found a neighbor's camcorder in his home in 2003. Never before sentenced to more than a month,<sup id="cite_ref-brooks-feb07_4-2" class="reference">[5]</sup> Harris-Moore fled a 3-year sentence by walking out of a halfway house in April 2008.<sup id="cite_ref-stevick_1-1" class="reference">[2]</sup>
Colton's mother, Pam Kohler, has said that her son's father left when he was about 2, his stepfather died when he was about 7, and from the time Colton was in the first grade, she knew there was something off about him—a "sort of a disconnection." He wouldn't listen to his teachers, started altercations at school, and sometimes deliberately broke things around the house, Kohler said.<sup id="cite_ref-katu_2-1" class="reference">[3]</sup>
He attended Stanwood High School up to the end of his sophomore year.

In addition to numerous burglaries, Colton has allegedly stolen four airplanes by hot-wiring them and then crash-landing them. It is believed that his knowledge of flying such light aircraft has been learned by means of reading flight manuals and handbooks. He once went to a house to have a shower and stole ice cream from the freezer, and has also used a computer and stolen credit card in a house to purchase a pair of night vision goggles, among other things, on the internet.
