Thats the point. If the bullpen sucks, the starter is at the mercy of the bullpen. How many starters go more than 6 innings?? Not many. If the bullpen has been overworked that plays a part too.
Its one additional reason that starters are OVERvalued.
There were people here that played Arizona at -250!!!! Ridiculous. Why the price?? Because Haren was pitching.
There are no hard and fast rules. But playing teams at -200 and up will kill your bankroll, Arizona and Haren is the latest example. That was a 2.5 unit loss for Arizona backers.
A lot of value betting baseball can be found by betting situations. It has little to do starting pitchers, generally speaking. Not always, but often.
