All of these leagues' officials/umps make bad calls.
Some of them just mistakes or missed calls, but some so obvious we sometimes don't understand what they are thinking.

Which League's Officials/Refs/Umpires Make Bad Calls The Most On A Consistent Basis?

Jerry Lane. Worst umpire in baseball. Guy thinks fans pay to see HIM umpire rather than the players play

Not sure, the problem is when they blow a call in the NFL it seems to be magnified because it is a Pass interference call or something that always seems to change the game for that time. There are alot of blown calls in the NBA and Baseball, but usally not game changing.

gotta be the nba

The NBA.

The officiating won't be perfect, but, at least it can be somewhat CONSISTENT.

I can't remember how many times refs called fouls one-sided in NBA games. And if you add in NCAA ball, it gets RIDICULOUS!

While I agree, the sheer volume does add up.

Hirschbeck is the one that most of the umps dislike, as well as us regular folks. Heard that from an umpire himself, over drinks in Daytona Beach years back.

to us, nba refs are making bad calls, but for puppet master stern they are the "proper" call

same goes for the NFL, but usually only on games with heavy volume bet on them...then you see all kinds of bullshit upstairs reviews and what not like that pitt/sd fiasco a few years ago where it was obvious everybody was shitting their pants that pitt was gonna get the cover with the last second td (think that was the game)

Basketball is by far the hardest sport to ref. People will always be disappointed with the NBA officiating.

This is really tough...the nfl is awful with non stop interfernce calls but i tink it has to be nba and ncaa hoops. Ive noticed over the years they really try hard(especially in college) to just make the foul totals even. if a team starts has 8 fouls and the other team has 2....they start making ticky tack calls for the team trailing in fouls....just to even them up. Become quite sickening. The nba refs in the playoffs....usually make calls in favor of the team traling in the series.....david stern did what he could to make the nba the wwe....so i would say hoops is the worst.....they have the ability to determine the winner more so than other sports.

A bad NBA call doesn't have a ton of impact over a 48 minute game, a bad NFL call like a holding or PI can change a game in an instant.

I've never had a problem with NBA officiating mostly because you know what to expect. NFL is more unpredictable and the bad calls of far more significance.

Better question is which sport has above average officiating? The NCAA was front and center for 3 weeks and most games were horribly officiated. The NBA is a league where officiating is so bad, its the norm. People have gotten so used to it, they dont even complain about it. The NFL is no different, bad calls are prevalent, but they are partly due to bad rules. I mean if you breath on Brady or Manning (and Brees in the SF game) you will be called for a penalty. Those calls are not bad calls as much as bad rules. MLB has different strike zones every game, I have never understood how this is ok. But we can bitch and moan all we want about it, as long as people still go to games and pay for season packages, it will never change.

Shouldn't we be asking who has the worst rules for officiating? Most of the things people are complaining about here are the rules set forth which the officials have to go by.
