Food poisoning?

Anyone here ever get food poisoning? Here is my experience.

We went to a Mexican rest. the other night, I don't eat meat, but at black bean tacos with guac. well, about an hour to 1.5 hours later, my legs started aching, back and i ran a tempature up to 102.3.

The fever lasted for about 4 hours then broke in a vicous sweat, man it never felt so good. I didn't puke, or shit, I felt like puking but never did.

Now, here it is, 2 days later and I still feel kinda like shit. I have acid reflux, but every time I eat during and after I get an after taste of metal. Taste like I am sucking on a roll of quaters.

I've been having slight chest and lower back pains, but it is imporving.

I dont know if it triggered a severe case of acid reflux or some fucker tried to poison me.

I am going to make an appointment at a Gastralogist on Monday.

But for now, I am juicing my ass off(fruits and veggies, not juice, ha) ginger, apple cider vin., apple, carrots, etc.

Anyone suffer from acid reflux or had food poisoning before?

had captain D's with my family when i was younger and everyone got tore up. i was probably about 12 years old at the times, i was laying on a couch in my loft crawling to the bathroom to puke. if i lifted my head off the pillow the room was spinning. On a side note the next morning was my first ymca league basketball game for me and all of my friends, I went and played with ginger ale in my water bottle

i got food poisoning from the NC State freshman meal plan way back in 1985. Myself and many on my dormitory floor (all of us who ate the roast beef) had diarreha for about 36 hrs. The school paper confirmed the poisoning the next day. Just horrible sickness during those 36 hrs. Primarily diarreha

I had food poisoning in fucking hawaii of all places at a japanese steakhouse. I shit and puked all night long. I could feel it coming before I even left the steakhouse. When you have food poisoning by the end of the night you have dry heaves because there is nothing left to throw up.
What you describe doesn't sound like food poisoning to me. But I'm sure it varies with food and person.

Blood cells contain hemoglobin which carries oxygen. When blood breaks down, iron is released and causes a metallic taste in mouth. Bleeding can be from the gums, sinuses or nose. The taste can get especially bad when someone has post nasal drip and the dried blood sticks to the back of the throat. If bleeding gums are the cause there is often bad breath associated with the bad taste.

Another uncommon reason for a metallic taste in mouth is due to small electric currents in the mouth. When two types of metals are used in two different dental fillings a battery can be created. Some believe that it's due to the mercury leakage from dental silver/mercury fillings.

Many oral or IV medications such as thyroid medicine, penicillin, and lithium can give a metallic taste in mouth. When someone is allergic to a specific food, the food can often be detected even in extremely small amounts. Food allergies, such as with sulfur dioxide, can also cause this. Some gastrointestinal disorders can be aggravated by food allergies and cause burping, dry mouth, thirst, rectal itching and a metal taste. High protein diets can cause benign dietary ketosis. This has also been associated with a metal taste.

Chemotherapy, radiation therapy, or cancer itself can cause a metallic taste in mouth. It has also been associated with B 12 deficiency, zinc deficiency, Bell's palsy, Strep throat and Sjogren's disease along with anything that causes dry mouth.

When I was living in Boston, got some late night Chinese take out once, the food (pork) had to be sitting on the stove all day and had gone bad.
I made the mistake of washing down the pork with some milk.
About four hours later I was vommitting from every orifice of my body, was aching from top to bottom for 3 days.

The metallic taste is from Acid Reflux. I found a site where I guy describes the very same thing I am going through.

The food poinsoning sets off a bout of bad acid reflux. I am feeling pretty good today. Sticking to juicing.

Potato, Cabbage, Brewers Yeast, Celery, Carrot, Apple and Ginger all in a juice.

Isn't the best tasting stuff, but is good for the digestive track and reflux.

The chest pain has subsided.

Still gonna hit the doc this week if i can before my trip, if not, when i get back next week.

It could of been worse if you do have food posioning. I got it once, last year...

I couldn't say more than 15 feet from the toliet.

It would be sudden and explosive. And you wouldfeel like throwing up at the same time....

I've had it twice.

Worst case was in Vegas. Went to Bahama Breeze. Had a bowl of Conch chowder and I knew I was screwed before I even left the restaurant.

Spent the entire night awake, pukin and shittin non-stop. I had to take a test the next morning with the Nevada Dept. of Financial Institutions for our collection agency license.

Worst night of my life, bar none.

I ate some bad chinese food back in '04, the puking diarrhea part lasted about 19hours(every ten or 15 min. until it was just dry heaves), sucks when you can't decide to shit or puke because they're both occuring simultaneously.

Worst I ever felt was my last night in Vegas last year - spent just over a week there for a mates wedding, culminating in a 3 day bender.

Woke up in the morning and could barely leave the hotel room due to all sorts of nasty stuff flying out of both ends of me - I still have absolutely no idea exactly what did the damage but it could have been any (or a combination) of the following:

3 days worth of near solid dinking;
smoked salmon/cream cheese bagel - bought sometime during the final night, then left in my warm room uneaten as I went back to the bar and stupidly decided to eat it when I got back to the room a few hours later;
14 caffeine tablets (700mg in total) taken throughout the final day, 8 taken mid-morning, 6 more in the evening

My money is on the caffeine, but really it could have been any or all of the above...

If your symptoms started only 1.5 hours after eating, the odds are you didn't have food poisoning. The reason is it takes longer than that for the bacteria to release the toxins which are responsible for the symptoms you get with food poisoning and for those toxins to cause symptoms.

If you sx began only 1.5 hours later, you probably had a virus. The reason every one thinks they've gotten food poisioning is there is always a temporal relationship between eating and the sx...

Symptoms of food poisoning: fever, diarrhea, stomach cramps, nausea and vomiting.

It usually takes about 8 hours after exposure for true food posioning sx to begin...

An elevated white blood count and positive stool cultures are the tests needed to make the diagnosis of food poisoning.

Doc. I didnt puke, or have diarrhea. I had the chills severe, and a 102.4 temp or so that broke 4-5 hours later.

Can a virus have an effect on acid reflux?

Seems like I get a stomach virus every 6-7 months

Fuck yeah. Few years ago in the Dominican Republic. Brother and I had it coming out both ends. Don't know what exactly what food it was but she sucked.

I got sick at Old Country Buffet. I eat there all the time. What I think happened is I came at a busy time with many small children. They don't wash their hands when they use the bathroom. One of them stuck their fingers in some of the food at the serving tables. That's all it takes. Not from an employee but from any individual putting their fingers in the food. E Coli, go forth and multiply. As soon as I came home I felt like I had come down with a fever and had the chills.
