They don't make there money chasing bail jumpers, thats what they do to prevent losing their $.
Here is how it works:
someone gets in trouble and the court sets bail, lets say $10,000.
the bad guy can seek out a bail bondsman where the bad guy will pay the BB 10% of his bond. so in this case, bad guy pays BB $1000.
In return, the bad guy is released to the custody of the BB. IF the bad guy doesn't doent show up for his court date, he is considered a 'skip' and the BB could potentially be out the $10,000.
This is when they chase down the bad guy to save their money. again, this isn't how they make the $, this is how they prevent themselves from losing the $.
