had to have my computer restored back to day 1. which was about 6 years ago.

i didnt have the discs.

so this kid who knows his stuff did it for me. i had a major virus.

i couldnt get past a black screen.

he somehow saved all my songs and documents and took it back to day 1. only problem was he couldnt download the drivers for my digital monitor to work.

so i had to buy a cable for the other outlet on the tower and monitor and go analog.

my monitor is acting up big time. takes several minutes to get to my desktop screen. the connection is good on the cable.

these wierd lines pop up , it goes blank and then eventually the screen comes up.

any ideas ? the monitor worked perfectly until this issue.

Why don't you go to the Monitor Brand, and download the Drivers ??
Most companies have that info on it's Web site.

I'm sure he knows his stuff....But what's the Brand ? and Model ?

i guess he does... jury might still be out..

Gateway FPD1960TFT LCD 19 inch flat panel monitor.

I believe there was an Nvidia card in the back that the jack for the plug was a part of . He went ahead and removed it cause it was useless .

with the lines your describing it sounds a lot like some type of electromagnetic noise or electrical noise. Make sure your Power cord for your monitor and your cord from you monitor to computer are as far away from each other as possible

The Profile 2 serial number can be found on the rear of the base or on the packing slip that came with the computer. The following graphics show examples of where to find the serial number.

even if i find the serial number , there isnt a plug for a digital connection on the tower now.

i was more asking if i'm needing to change some settings to get the analog to come up without so much interference. i should have worded my question better.

it might electrical like the other poster mentioned.
