MINNESOTA +113

While there should be plenty of excitement in Minnesota with the opening of Target Field it is not the main factor determining that the Twins are a great value at +113 today when they play host to the Boston Red Sox.

What has caught my eye is J. Lester’s poor 5.1 4ER 3BB performance vs. the Yanks (at home) and the similarities so far to his slow start in the 09’ campaign. It is important to note that Lester got rocked vs. the Twins last year, and then he went on a 10-game tear of quality starts.

The way I see this game is that Lester can still pitch quite well - go 6 to 7 innings of 2-3 run baseball and still not chalk up a win, especially since Twins SP C. Pavano looked very sharp in his first appearance – 7.0 IP 1ER 0BB.

***The Twins bullpen is well rested and did not allow a single run vs. the White Sox over the weekend.

The Twins showed great fight even in a losing effort yesterday against the White Sox; Thome had a very timely two-out hit in the top of the 9th which should have extended the inning. Twins are playing great baseball while the Red Sox looked only mediocre vs. the K.C. Royals and N.Y. Yankees
